Meet Captain Jon
Your adventure is led by Captain Jon, a seasoned captain with a deep passion for the ocean and fishing. Highly regarded Captain Jon has been fishing the waters of N.C. for more than 10 years. He served his country in the United States Coast Guard and continues to serve as a reservist.
Captain Jon has a deep passion for the great outdoors and wants to share his love for the sea. Captain Jon is very knowledgeable about fishing the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. His favorite fish to catch are Blue Marlin to Bluefish. Benefit from his expertise as he guides you to the best fishing spots, ensuring a reel-y memorable trip!
The Boat
“Custom” is a beautiful 61 Weaver Custom Sportfish located in Beaufort, NC. With a well-designed three stateroom two head layout, an efficient cruise, and the famous Weaver lines, this custom Carolina convertible is sure to please the fishermen and the family.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the cancellation policy?
We understand that sometimes plans change, so here’s a quick rundown of our cancellation policy:
- If you need to cancel your fishing trip within 72 hours of the scheduled day, there’ll be a 30% trip rate charge.
- We kindly ask that if you can’t make it, please give us a heads up. No call and no show on the morning of the charter will also result in a 30% trip rate charge.
- If we’ve already set sail but need to turn back for any reason, like if someone’s feeling a bit seasick, the trip rate will still apply. Don’t worry, we totally get it!
- However, if Mother Nature decides to rain on our parade with bad weather or if there’s a boat malfunction, you won’t be held responsible for any fees.
- Your safety is our top priority! If the captain believes it’s unsafe to continue the voyage due to weather conditions, crew or passenger behavior, or any medical emergencies, they have the right to call it off.
We’re here to make sure you have a fantastic fishing experience, so if you have any questions or concerns, just give us a shout!
How far offshore will we travel?
Our full-day Gulf Stream trips typically take us around 45 miles offshore, give or take, depending on the season. So get ready for some deep-sea adventure!
And if you’re joining us for a half-day nearshore trip, no worries about losing sight of land! We’ll be cruising along within sight of the beautiful coastline all day long.
What types of fish can we expect to catch?
For a full day out on the water, you can look forward to hooking some Mahi, Wahoo, Tuna, Sailfish, and Marlin while we’re trolling. And when we’re bottom fishing, keep an eye out for snapper, triggerfish, black bass, grunts, porgies, and grouper.
If you’re joining us for a half-day adventure, you might snag some Spanish Mackeral, Bluefish, King Mackeral, and even Moonfish.
What should we wear and bring? What is provided?
We want to make sure you’re all set for a great day out on the water! Weather can be a bit unpredictable, so make sure to dress accordingly. Wear something comfortable and dress in layers – this is NC after all! We can experience all four seasons in one day!
And please wear non-marking shoes. A lot of rain boots leave marks, so we recommend testing before hopping on the boat just to be sure.
We’ve got you covered on the fishing licenses, bait, and tackle.
Also, there’s a cooler in the cockpit stocked with ice for your snacks and drinks. Feel free to bring along anything you’d like to eat or drink, but remember to stick to cans for your beer and plastic cups for your wine or cocktails. For your safety, we do not allow glass on the boat.
If you reel in a big one and want it cleaned up, we can handle that for you at just $1 per pound.
If you think we did a good job, and we hope you do, please don’t forget about tipping the mate! It’s customary to give about 20% of the trip rate in cash.
We’re all about making sure you have a fantastic time, so if you have any questions, just give us a shout!
What is the age limit for kids?
We welcome all ages aboard, as long as parents or guardians are cool with it. Remember, children younger than 12 years old need to sport a life jacket as per N.C. state law. We’ve got some onboard, but they might not be the comfiest, so feel free to bring your own for the best fit.
What are some housekeeping items to ensure everyone has a wonderful time?
Now, about keeping things shipshape: Please keep the salon and sinks clean. If you’re feeling queasy, the ocean is your friend!
Be mindful of throwing items in the toilets – No paper towels, garbage, etc. If things get clogged, well, let’s just say it’s not a party for anyone involved.
Lastly, a big ask from the heart: Let’s show some love to the Captain, crew, and our trusty boat. We’re all about giving you a fun and unforgettable experience, so let’s keep the vibes positive and treat the boat like it’s our own.
